The Teaching Artist Collaborative of The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall supports 20 practicing and emerging teaching artists in a yearlong program that provides opportunities to collaborate with master teaching artists, gain tools in workshop settings, and use what is learned in real classroom teaching experiences.

After completing the program, teaching artists will be able to use acquired experiences, philosophies, relationships, and ideas to more effectively serve students and community members of New York City. More >>

The program consists of teaching artist experiences in three focus areas:

Skills Based
Work with students in skills-based settings

Integrated Learning
Teach music within social studies, global studies, and English classrooms

Creative Learning Projects
Help students create their own music or creative responses to music

Participants in the Teaching Artist Collaborative will meet throughout the school year (September 2008-May 2009) and will have opportunities to observe master teaching artists in classrooms prior to teaching lessons themselves. The program will also include monthly professional development workshops, where philosophy and tools come together to support and inform the hands-on work in schools. Participants will be compensated for their in-school teaching time and professional development activities, and may have additional employment opportunities within The Weill Music Institute.

The application process for 2008-09 season is closed.
